Bulgaria Expands Hospitality Job Opportunities for Indonesian Workers

Growing labor demand in Bulgaria’s tourism industry opens wider opportunities for Indonesian hospitality professionals.

Jakarta — Bulgaria continues to emerge as one of Europe’s promising destinations for Indonesian migrant workers, particularly in the hospitality sector. As the country’s tourism industry expands, employers are increasing their demand for qualified international workers to support hotels, resorts, wellness facilities, and other tourism-related businesses.

According to Indonesia’s Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI), Bulgaria currently requires approximately 700 to 800 Indonesian workers during each tourism season, with many positions available in hospitality-related occupations such as Front Office, Housekeeping, Cleaner, and Spa & Wellness Therapist.

Deputy Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Christina Aryani stated that Indonesia and Bulgaria are working to strengthen bilateral cooperation through the preparation of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement is expected to provide a stronger legal framework for worker placement while improving coordination between both governments.

“Strengthening bilateral cooperation is an important step to ensure Indonesian migrant workers can access overseas employment opportunities through safe, legal, and well-managed placement mechanisms,” Christina Aryani stated.

The tourism sector remains one of Bulgaria’s fastest-growing industries, particularly during the spring and summer seasons when demand for hospitality services increases significantly. As a result, hotels and tourism businesses continue seeking additional workers to maintain service quality and operational efficiency.

For Indonesian hospitality professionals, Bulgaria offers opportunities to gain international experience while working in one of Europe’s growing tourism destinations. Candidates with practical hospitality skills, English communication abilities, and professional service standards are expected to remain competitive throughout the recruitment process.

The Indonesian government also continues encouraging prospective migrant workers to prepare themselves through competency development, certified training, and official recruitment channels before pursuing employment abroad. These preparations not only improve employability but also strengthen worker protection throughout the placement process.

As discussions between Indonesia and Bulgaria continue to progress, both countries are expected to further expand cooperation that supports sustainable labor mobility and creates long-term opportunities for Indonesian hospitality professionals.
