Indonesia and Albania Strengthen Labor Cooperation for Future Worker Placement

Both countries are working toward stronger bilateral cooperation to create safer and more sustainable overseas employment opportunities.

Jakarta — Indonesia and Albania are taking steps to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of migrant worker placement as part of ongoing efforts to expand overseas employment opportunities for Indonesian workers. The initiative reflects Indonesia’s commitment to developing new international labor markets while ensuring that worker protection remains a top priority.

According to the Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (KP2MI), discussions between Indonesia and Albania have focused on preparing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will serve as the legal foundation for future labor cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Christina Aryani explained that the proposed agreement is expected to establish a clear framework covering recruitment procedures, worker protection, and institutional coordination. The MoU will also support transparent and well-regulated placement mechanisms for Indonesian migrant workers seeking employment opportunities in Albania.

“The preparation of this cooperation framework is intended to strengthen legal protection while creating more structured opportunities for Indonesian migrant workers,” Christina Aryani stated during discussions on expanding international labor partnerships.

Although labor cooperation is still in its preparation stage, Albania is considered one of several European countries with growing potential for international workforce collaboration. As the country’s economy and tourism sector continue to develop, demand for skilled foreign workers is expected to increase across various industries, including hospitality, tourism, and services.

For Indonesian hospitality professionals, the development represents another positive signal that Europe continues to offer new employment opportunities through formal and government-supported recruitment channels. Expanding bilateral cooperation also provides greater confidence for employers and prospective workers by establishing clearer placement procedures and stronger legal safeguards.

The Indonesian government continues encouraging prospective migrant workers to prepare themselves through competency development, professional training, and official recruitment channels before pursuing employment abroad.
